Got the Munchies?

Lose weight. Eat right. Run faster. Be stronger.

Perhaps things you may have thought before?  Well all of those things start with how you treat your body- from how you exercise to what you put into it.  It all counts!

So you know that it all counts, but HOW to make it work is the biggest question we get.  A lot of unhealthy calories and foods are taken in when the munchies occur and your body proclaims it’s SNACK TIME.

The best part about munching during snack time: Snacks have the power to boost your energy between meals and throw some essential vitamins your way.  But, snackers beware: snack time can result in over indulging in items that may not be the best choices.

Eating more than 3 times a day is not bad for you.  In fact it helps your metabolism to keep a steady pace.  You get in trouble when your 3+ meals a day are not portion-controlled and full of healthy nutrients.


  • peanut butter on a sliced medium apple

    • Why? Peanut butter gives you fiber, vitamins and minerals.  Harvard Health gives it the healthy stamp of approval too!

  • air-popped popcorn

    • Why? Air-popped drops the added preservatives and added butter and salt, unlike its microwavable counterpart.  Nutrition experts rave about the whole grain and the awesome amount of fiber it contains


  • Fruit smoothie: Blend 1 cup fat-free milk, ½ cup frozen strawberries and ½ banana

    • Why? Fruits contain vitamins and minerals that may be harder to come by in a meat packed diet.  Plus, mixing up a tasty smoothie doesn’t sound half bad for a tasty treat!

These items are just a minor fraction of the many things that are totally munchable.  Color your plate happy!  The more colors, the more vitamins and minerals you will get.

Knowing what you are eating and what’s is a key to nutritious eating.  Even when you are on vacation healthy choices are not fair out of reach!
