Less Really Is More

“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”

The No Impact Project is an international movement to change and educate those of you that are not already canvas toting, tree-hugging, self-motorized transporters about the environment and what you can do on a day-to-day basis to help preserve the planet.  After all, there is only one.

Now you may ask how can one simple action change the world?  One of the most amazing things about everyone doing their part is that you will not only help change your own habits, but will help to make an impact.

Change The World

Climate Change:

By following a few easy steps each day you will be able to reduce the impact that humans have on the world, whether it be through lower transportation or getting out in your community you can help to change the very climate around you!

Water:

Did you know that 780 million people lack access to clean drinking water?  That’s more than 2.5 times the United States population!

So, what can you do right now to make a change? Kick Your Bottled Water Habit.  Invest in a reusable bottle and save

If you drink one bottle of water per day and pay $1.50 for it each time, you are spending an extra $550 on water!  Even if you buy your bottled water very cheaply most of the time, you will still be wasting over $150 each year.

During No Impact Week: Check out ‘Expressions From Recycling  art exhibit and see how students are kicking their old habits and finding a fun and creative way to reduce, reuse, and recycle.  The exhibit will be on display throughout No Impact Week at Henderson Library.

Transportation:

With the national average for a gallon of gasoline currently ranking in at about $3.636 and $3.494 in the Peach State the average American will probably spend close to $2000 a year JUST in fuel.

So, what can you do right now to make a change? Don’t let those surging petrol prices get you down.  Grab a bike, jump on the bus, or phone a friend and cruise together!

During No Impact Week:  Campus Recreation and Intramural’s  Southern Adventures will be offering a bike maintenance clinic on Monday, April 15th as part of No Impact Week!

Change Yourself

When you make small changes day by day you may not realize that you are in the works of making a huge, positive impact on your global community.  But equally important: what’s good for the environment is also great for YOU!

Eating cleaner makes you feel good, saving money on gas makes your wallet feel good, and limiting your waste makes the community feel good.  Starting the change with one simple step makes a world of difference.  Never thought you’d feel so good, huh?

No Impact Week is a 7-day long week of events packed full of ways to give back to the community and the environment.  Sign up today: Click Here
