And You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet: Living those Dreams

Graduating, like any milestone in one’s life, can seem both bitter and sweet, but these milestones were created because of the dreams that were brought to life.  Often times folks have a hard time moving on because they believe they are leaving behind something undone.  Moving on is a part of something that everyone must do at some point and it is important to keep this in mind- especially when thinking about the social, emotional, and spiritual aspects of Wellness.

Bittersweet emotions are tough, so how do you keep a level head and keep those dimensions in check?  Put some thought into these simple steps when you get the most wildest of dreams.

First: Use Your Given Talents.

Second: Happy is a Choice.

Third: DO now.

Use Your Talents

Dreams help us to keep growing and learning; getting into a routine is one thing, but can sometimes be the demise of your wildestdreams and goals.  Routines can stomp on change and sooner than later you might find yourself in one of life’s ruts stuck unable to climb out.

Routines allow you to focus on what is going on around you, but getting caught up in a narrow view of the possibilities and talents you may have inhibits your goals.  Everyone has different talents and abilities.

Albert Einstein once said, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.”

Get in touch with your emotional and spiritual sides and awaken those talents and challenge yourself.

Happy is a Choice

Happiness is not a Facebook status, a Twitter update, or a forced semi-smile to a classmate.  It is something that can only be defined by YOU and felt by you.  We all have assignments, meetings, and tests that exist in our everyday lives- so rather than groaning about them choose that ‘other’ option.

A simple change of attitude can do wonders for your dreams, keeping you motivated clear headed.  Everyone clears their minds in different ways to retain that happiness-factor.  Some take a dive in the pool, some get their blood pumping in the weight room, some hit the road placing one foot in front of the other for a run.  Whatever gets you goin’ do it- and do it often.  Happiness is a choice, and it is something that must be chosen- not given.

Dream NOW

These dreams- some more vibrant and colorful than others, but each of us in this world have aspersions that we think about constantly. Some are short-term, some are in it for the long haul, but all exist.

As I’ve grown and lived my short 20-something years on this Earth if I’ve learned anything it is that the second you start to wish your life to fast forward or rewind you cannot focus on the present- what is real.  Don’t let your dreams be dreams- get up NOW and make them reality.

Dreams come in all shapes and sizes and need all kinds of motivation.  Just like the famous Erk Russell dreamed of success for the Georgia Southern Eagles- dream big and often.

“I’m gonna say it one more time. We are Georgia Southern. Our colors are blue and white. We call ourselves the Bald Eagles. We call our offense the Georgia Power Company…and that’s a terrific name for an offense. Our snap count is “rate, hike”. We practice on the banks of Beautiful Eagle Creek and that’s in Statesboro, Georgia–the gnat capital of America. Our weekends begin on Thursday. The co-eds outnumber the men 3 to 2. They’re all good looking and they’re all rich. And folks, you just can’t beat that…and you just can’t beat Georgia Southern. And you ain’t seen nothin yet!”
