It’s that time of the year where we are all praying that the notes we took in class all semester magically sticks in our brains for finals. During this stressful week we forget to reflect back to the wonderful moments we experienced this past semester. The University Wellness Program has offered many events for us Eagles to make us Be Well to Do Well. This last post of Fall 2015 brings back memories shared with the Eagle Nation.
Taste the Farmers Market started the semester with free, scrumptious goodies made with fresh and local ingredients to kick-off the Campus Farmers Market. Eggplant hummus, black bean and corn salsa, “kale”sadillas, and lemon and mint infused water– oh, my! You want to know the best part? This event happens once a semester! The next one will be on March 28, 2016.
SOS Week, or Stomp Out Stigma Week, was created to break the stigma of mental health. The week began with stigma-busting pledges, tasty “when life hands you lemons” lemonade, and a sweet stomp out performance from Southern’s Coalition Crew! Worry-Free Wednesday, which included Therapy Dogs and make-your-own stress balls, and Depression screenings from the Counseling Center were also part of this week to help students identify the signs and stress less between classes.
DBTG Week, or Don’t be that Guy/Girl week was full of tips and tricks to be a more responsible drinker. Trivia night began it all with someone from the audience winning $200! Campus Crawl was next where real-life alcohol and drug-related scenarios were played out. We then lite up the campus with Club Remix– Mocktails, dance-offs, food and giveaways made this a night to remember. An alcohol-free tailgate finished this week off with free hot dogs and ice cream. Yum!
